Welcome to Oasis Interventional Spine Care

Mathew J. Abraham, MD is the founder and director of Oasis Interventional Spine Care. Dr. Abraham is board-certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) with sub-specialty fellowship training in Interventional Spine Care. Rehabilitation specialists are experts in the diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of problems affecting bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles and nerves and place an emphasis not only on relieving pain but also on restoring function. This is achieved by treating the whole person and not just the problem area.

What is Interventional Spine Care?

The sub-specialty of physicians who evaluate and treat painful spinal disorders using minimally invasive, x-ray guided procedures practice Interventional Spine Care. Research has shown that the vast majority of patients experiencing low back and neck pain have a specific source or their spine pain. Minimally-invasive x-ray guided procedures can be used to not only identify the specific source of pain but also allow for precision treatment in a target-specific manner. These procedures can be used to reduce spinal pain and disability and improve quality of life. With pain reduction patients can progress through exercise therapy to improve spine biomechanics and reduce spine strain, thereby preventing further injury.

The success of interventional therapy for low back and neck pain often eliminates or delays the need for surgery. Most procedures are only several minutes in length and can be performed comfortably in the outpatient setting.
