Meet Dr. Abraham

Abraham.3Mathew J. Abraham, M.D., is a board-certified Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) Specialist and Fellow of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He is the Founder and Director of Oasis Interventional Spine Care in Blue Bell, PA where he specializes in non-surgical interventional treatments for a variety of spinal conditions including degenerated discs, herniated discs, spinal stenosis, sciatica and radiculopathy. He also treats arthritis and degeneration of the spinal facet joints, sacroiliac joint, hip, knee and shoulder joints.

Dr. Abraham earned his bachelor of arts degree cum laude from Cornell University. After  graduating with distinction in biomedical science research from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Michigan in 2006, he completed his residency in the highly regarded department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Rochester Medical Center/Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY where he had the honor of being appointed as Chief Resident during his final year. During his residency he conducted leading clinical research in his field for which he attained national recognition and was awarded the prestigious Foundation for PM&R Musculoskeletal Research and Education Award in addition to research grants from the Foundation for PM&R and the Merck, Sharp and Dohme Corporation. He was also the recipient of the International Society for Clinical Densitometry 3rd Annual Osteoporosis Academy Scholarship award in 2011. Dr. Abraham went on to complete a Fellowship in Interventional Spine Care at the internationally renowned Penn Spine Center of the University of Pennsylvania in 2012. After spending a brief time out of the state of Pennsylvania Dr. Abraham returned to the Philadelphia area in 2014 with an aim to bring the expert training he received at the University of Pennsylvania to the Philadelphia suburbs.

Dr. Abraham has published numerous articles in leading journals and has spoken at conferences around the country. He remains actively involved in research and was recently published in the prestigious Spine Journal.

Dr. Abraham’s mission in founding Oasis Interventional Spine Care is to not only provide the latest in medical technology and advancements in the field of spine care to his patients but also to provide compassionate care to those who are experiencing low back and neck pain.

At Oasis Interventional Spine Care interventional treatments such as epidural steroid injections, selective nerve root blocks, facet joint injections, medial branch blocks, facet joint radiofrequency ablation neurotomy, sacroiliac joint injections and radiofrequency ablation neurotomy, hip/shoulder/knee joint injections and spinal cord stimulator trials are some of the many interventional treatments offered.
